What is Stripe?

Stripe is an international payment platform founded in 2010, with offices in San Francisco and Dublin. It processes payments for millions of businesses in more than 46 countries, from sole traders to large companies.

Stippa uses Stripe Connect to process payments on your behalf. Customers pay you directly. Stippa never sees the money and takes nothing out of it.

Which payment methods does Stripe support?

In the Netherlands, the ones people use most through Stripe are:

• iDEAL, the most popular payment method in the Netherlands, through every major bank
• Credit card: Visa, Mastercard and American Express
• Bancontact, widely used in Belgium
• SEPA direct debit, for recurring payments
• Klarna, pay later
• Apple Pay and Google Pay, paying by phone or watch

What does it cost?

Stripe charges per transaction: you pay only when money comes in. There is no monthly fee.

When do I get my money?

Stripe pays out to your bank account 2 working days after a successful payment by default. You can change how often it pays out in your Stripe dashboard: daily, weekly or monthly.

What is the difference between test mode and live mode?

Stripe has two modes:

• Test mode, where payments are simulated and no real money moves. Useful for setting everything up before going live.
• Live mode, where real payments are processed.

You switch to live mode once your identity verification is complete in the Stripe dashboard.

What are the advantages?

• A detailed dashboard with payment overviews and reporting

What are the drawbacks?

• Support is mostly in English
• The dashboard and the documentation are English only
