What has changed

Which day you are looking at, which view you are using and which staff you have ticked are now in the web address. That resolves two things:

Refreshing loses nothing. You come back where you were.
You can pass it on. Paste the address into a message to a colleague and they open exactly this screen: the same day, the same view, the same people in view.
